Jose and Tawnya Lopez -- Manstopper Kennels
A Life Together
Jose Lopez was born in Mexico in 1973 and immigrated to the East Bay Area of California. He met Tawnya when they were both 13 years old. They were together for more than 30 years, raising two children and welcoming a grandson into the family.
Manstopper Kennels
Jose's first American Bulldog was named Diablo. From that first dog, Jose and Tawnya built Manstopper Kennels into one of the most respected programs in the breed. Jose earned the nickname "BullGawd" for his deep knowledge and passion for American Bulldogs.
International Judge
Jose judged American Bulldog events internationally -- in Italy, Brazil, Holland, and the Czech Republic. He was renowned for his protection-trained American Bulldogs and his ability to evaluate dogs with an eye for both structure and working ability.
The Heart of the Community
Jose was known for his infectious laugh, his storytelling, and his ability to light up any room he walked into. He founded the Bullyvard message board, which is still active today and remains a gathering place for the American Bulldog community.
